Americas Cardroom

Aug 09, 2012 00:00 AM
Known as one of the friendliest and fastest-growing online poker communities in the world, Americas Cardroom is a relatively recent entry into the chaotic yet vibrant world of online poker. The site joined the Yatahay poker network in August '11. While the Americas Cardroom brand isn’t a new one either, the Yatahay network which currently powers the poker room has quite a bit of history to look back on: it’s been providing online gaming services for more than 10 years now. Americas Cardroom is still open to US players and provides a great experience to both the casual and professional player. Barely has Americas Cardroom entered the stage, it’s already looking to woo the public with feats only old and established online poker rooms pull off: it is sponsoring a major live poker event, the Punta Cana Poker Classic which features a prize-pool of $500k.

Americas Cardroom Software
The new software version features enhanced graphics and a general feel that is completely different from the old software. They provide basic graphics and poker tables that are built for functionality rather than to impress. Despite the graphical simplicity, there’s plenty of functionality. The new software is easy to navigate and user friendly. Intuitive and straightforward, players will find it a pleasure to use. Customizable avatars and resizable tables are just two of the many personalization features found on Americas Cardroom. The software is solid and stable under all conditions, even when pushed to the multi-tabling limit. Players can take notes on other players and hand histories are available for later analysis too. There’s also a sophisticated anti-collusion system in place.

Traffic and Competition
Americas Cardroom is connected to all of the other Yatahay Poker Network poker sites, maximizing player traffic to its fullest potential. Players can expect to find about 5,000 players on about 1,000 tables on average with peak times reaching over 10,000 players. Even though the numbers seem small, the players per stake level will be pretty even throughout each level. The poker play at the micro levels may be found to be a bit mediocre allowing solid players to clean up as compared to the higher level stakes that ten to tighten up a bit with a little stiffer competition. With a super rewards system, many high rolling cash players can be found playing at the medium and high stakes tables.

Games Offered
Americas Cardroom offers players Texas Holdem, (PL) Omaha, Omaha HiLo. 7 card stud, and 7 card stud HiLo. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit. Full-ring games, 6-max, and heads-up tables are all available.

Americas Cardroom Promotions and Bonuses
The Yatahay Poker Network is gaining steam and watch for great deals and promotions in the future from Americas Cardroom. New players will receive a 100% sign up bonus of up to $1,000 on their first deposit. Only first depositors qualify for the offer of course. Assuming your first deposit is a minimum of $50, you’ll be able to earn the bonus by collecting Frequent Player Points through real money cash game tables and poker tournaments. Every 500 FPP’s you earn unlocks $1 of the bonus, and you receive 1 FPP for every $0.01 of rake contributed. So to get each $1 of the bonus, you’d need to contribute $5 in rake. In addition to the sign-up bonus, new Americas Cardroom players can also get into the First Depositors’ Freeroll, which runs every Saturday and offers a $250 prize pool. Considering that most online poker rooms only offer first-time depositors a sign-up bonus, the First Depositors’ Freeroll is an added bonus. Americas Cardroom players can satellite into many land-based events including the Punta Cana Poker Classic. Players can win an all-inclusive $5,000 prize package for pennies on the dollar. The Americas Cardroom Online Super Series (ACROSS) is another exciting mainstay promotion at this site because it features 19 online tournaments, and culminates in a $50,000 Main Event. Other promotions at Americas Cardroom include daily freerolls, poker points races, a $15,000 Weekly Guaranteed, and a bad beat jackpot. The bad beat jackpot is especially worth noting because it sometimes climbs to $500,000 or more.Besides these promotions, there are all sorts of freerolls running all the time, featuring prize-pools as big as $150. There’s also a poker points race which hands prizes out of a pool of $65k. A bad beat jackpot takes care of those ridden by extreme bad luck.

Americas Cardroom Rakeback
Americas Cardroom rakeback is equal to 27% of the total rake that players generate while playing. All players qualify for the Americas Cardroom rakeback program. This includes all fees paid during real money play in cash games, Sit & Go's or tournaments. When you pay $1,000 in rake during one week, you will receive $270 back guaranteed. There are no confusing VIP programs, and you never have to do anything extra to receive your 27% besides simply playing poker. Payments for Americas Cardroom rakeback are made once a week, on Wednesdays, for net rake paid from the previous Monday through Sunday. The payment is automatically added to your account balance for you to immediately use.

Americas Cardroom Tournaments
Americas Cardroom offers the usual selection of SNGs and multi-table tournaments, although they do say that they have one of the "world’s largest tournament selections" on offer. The $200 Bankroll Builder is nice for beginning players with small bankrolls since the buy-in is just $1 $0.10. The largest regularly-scheduled poker tournament at Americas Cardroom is the $15k Weekly Guaranteed ($125 $12 buy-in), while the $7,500 Weekly Guaranteed ($50 $5 buy-in) is also pretty big. Those who can’t buy directly into these tournaments can always play in the satellites that run in Americas Cardroom’s lobby every day. Time based tournaments are fairly standard too. What’s special about them is the fact that they have a starting time as well as an ending time set. The player with the most chips when the time runs out is the winner. Hand based tournaments are quite similar, with the difference that they end when a set number of hands have been dealt. The tournament buy-ins run the length of the $0.25-$160 scale, giving everyone the opportunity to partake in some hot tourney action. Those who enjoy bounty tournaments can appreciate the $300 Bounty ($2 bounties), which runs Monday through Friday and charges a $12 $1 buy-in. Some other unique tournaments to Americas Cardroom are the "Tour Across America SnG’s" and their Friday "Freeroll Frenzy" which is 12 freerolls every Friday.
